HOW WE FIND HOSTS
There are a few different ways we find host families for the summer: past host family directory, Southwestern alumni, and recommendations from the community.
Typically, we set these up before the summer starts and assign 2-4 students of the same gender to one host family.
However, in the event that students don’t have a host family set up, they will stay in hotel accommodations temporarily.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Staying with a host family gives students the opportunity to live in another community, at a fraction of the cost. With host families, you can expect to pay between $10 to $50 per week for “rent.”
We offer rent to offset a host’s increased water and electric bills, and for letting us take up space in their home.
You should treat your host parents the way you would want someone to treat your own parents – with courtesy and respect.
